I have noticed that this issue has come up alot, but i have a different problem

I get a A disk read error has occured, Pres Ctrl+Alt+Delete to reboot, and it comes right after the COMPAQ sign. I cant even boot in. i dont know what to do, and i need the files on that computer and i dont want to loose them. Do i need a new C Drive? please help!!!
