How do I get Xp (and Vista please) to remember when I setup a fold

Hi. When I open folder and organize it - Right-click the folder then auto
arrange icons and arrange by name: How do I make that the default for all of
Windows XP or Vista (64-bit)?

Before, the XP OS did it for all the folders unless specified. Now I have to
do it for EVERY SINGLE folder I open. This is annoying.

Thank you.

Open a folder, set it up the way you want, then go up to the top tab of
Tools> Folder Options> View> ...click 'Apply To All Folders'

George's answer applies to XP. In Windows7 and, I guess, Vista, "Folders
Option" is located in the Control Panel.

While organizing within a folder can be done in Win7, for some stupid
reason, MS decided to not allow position and size saving of a window.
You need this in order to bring it back:

Doum, my answer applies to all Three OS's which I have, WXP, Vista, Win7.

Yes, it's also true on all Three you can access it via the CP as well.

I only mention to use the folder you're in since you have to open one
anyway to set it up the way you want, and so at that point you just need to
click the top tab of
Tools> Folder Options> View> ...click 'Apply To All Folders'

I have doen this a bunch of times. I will do it again. Do I need to shut-down
and power up for the changes to fully take affect?

A message saying something about re-opening the folder is when the changes
will take affect.
