Here is a way to boot a Windows 7 DVD on an older computer.

F

Frank

Flightless Bird
Some of you have noticed that you cannot boot a Windows 7 DVD on your
old computers. There is nothing wrong with your DVD player or your
computer. This is a proper function as the Windows 7 DVD reads your BIOS
on boot-up and determines that your computer is not suitable to run
Windows 7.
But wait...it can be done and 7 will run on a lot of older computers.

Do this:
You will need to have a Vista install DVD. Boot from Vista DVD, and
chose "Repair my Computer". On the next window, choose "Command Prompt".
Then remove the Vista DVD and insert Windows 7 DVD. Navigate to DVD (for
example d: or e:,...depends on your drive settings, then go to your cd
folder sources (type "cd sources" ), and then type "setup".
Installation will then start.

Do you mean to tell me there are people using computers that are more than a
couple years old? What a bunch of cheap bastards.

Quite the contrary - you will find a lot of well-to-do folks who ARE well-
to-do because they don't throw their money away.

First off, relic was being sarcastic I am sure.

That said: though I am hardly well-to- do

because I *refuse* to play the hardware and OS upgrade game

I easily save enough money to pay for one hell of a good vacation each
year...

so even though I am not rich I can act it (for a few days)

I use Linux for 98% of my work

and XP for the few Win-apps I need to run occasionally

Mostly, though, people get to that point by taking others' money...like the
guy one of my coworkers described this morning. All proud of himself, for
having become wealthy, despite a lack of even high school education, because
he buys up debts, then charges the victim usurious rates of interest. Scum.

well-to-do folks don't waste their valuable time on that INFERIOR Ubuntu
piece of crap. That is one reason they are well-to-do. They use their time
wisely. One more thing, they can afford Windows!

I can afford whatever I damned well please. I choose to use Linux mostly
(not necessarily Ubuntu - that's not the only game in town) because it
works rather than use that INFERIOR ms crap.

You use linux because its free and you're a free loader.
You live off the backs of others.
Windows 7 is the very best OS available today and is all anyone needs
for all of their computing needs.

No, it doesn't. Not everyone needs an OS that is vulnerable to malware
like Windows of any stripe is.

Wrong. MOST do. I'm middle-aged, and have been paying attention most of my
life. Having grown up dirt poor, it had been my interest to discover the
secret...and I did find it. I could be wealthy, but I have strong moral
fiber in my diet. Seriously. If I were to start conning people, I'd have
to kill myself.

frankie, that is not true, and I think you know it. I use Linux becuase
it works. I could very easily afford anything that would work for me.

Your opinion - not shared by many others. Linux is certainly every bit as
capable.

It is more about managing what you have than earning more. There are
folks making under $50k who are doing quite well - there a folks making
well into six figures who are still in debt. I'm not asking you to 'con
people' - I never have and I'm quite well off - thanks to good money
management.
