Google search warning

My adult son is having two problems with his system and they probably are
related.
1. A Googol search for anything results in the following being displayed
in the address block of IE;
http://www:google.com/#warning

2. A second problem is that when trying to access standard sites such as
Yahoo results in seeing the word BLOCKED in the topmost blue row right after
the IE icon

Running XP-sp3 and I think OE 6
He has just ran the standard set of programs usually recommended here to
clear up viruses with no success and always has Avast running.
I have ran Google searches from my computer but find way too many references
to #warning and Blocked to be useful.

According to the BBC, Google has begun phasing out support for IE6. See
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8488751.stm for more information.
That might explain problem 1. Other sites might be following Google's
example. Perhaps its time for your son to change to a more recent
browser like IE8 perhaps.

In Internet Explorer, [Tools]>[Options] (or Control Panel, Internet Options)
check under the "Content" tab. If Content Adviser is enabled either disable it
or change the settings.

If Content Adviser is not enabled, do you have any third party security toolbars
active in Internet Explorer? Do you have any other security program running
that may filter the internet?

You will need to provide more version info and what security programs/settings
you have to be much more helpful.
