Functional difference between the IE8 32-bit version and IE8 64-bit version

Hi All,

I tried a drag and drop on a word document into an internet explorer
and below is the functional difference I observed between the IE8 32-
bit version and IE8 64-bit version.

IE8 32-bit: The word document is opened as an embedded object within
the IE browser window.

IE8 64-bit: The word document is opened in the MSWORD program outside
the IE browser window. Doesn't appears as embedded in the IE browser
window.

Can anybody please let me know the reason behind this functional
difference and how can I get the behavior of IE8 32bit in IE8 64 bit?

We are using MSOffice 2003 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
