Formatting tabs for pages and subpages

Is there a way to format the appearance of the tabs for pages and subpages?
I'd like to use specific colors for different pages and groups. Also, is
there a way to increase the size of the tabs either horizontally or
vertically to accommodate a longer, more descriptive label.

Click and drag the left hand side of the page tab (right hand side of
the page) to adjust the width of the page tab.

No, there are no options for this.

The size can not be increased vertically.
It cab easily be increased horizontally:
Just drag the separator/border line between the page and the page tab.
