A person who is only willing to use Windows-based PCs without even
considering the fact that Macintosh computers may be better. Wintards
can often be found bashing Mac computers in a feeble effort make
themselves feel better about their crash-prone PCs, even though they may
have never come within ten feet of any Apple product.
Wintard: Lyk OMG! Mac sux so much!111!!one!eleven!
Mac user: Have you ever even used a Mac?
Wintard: Eww. Y would I use a Mac? Macs suck!!!11!1! Windows Rulz!!1!
*A few minutes later:-*
Wintard: Shit! My computer just crashed! And I think I have a virus!

Quite.

It's funny...I came to this ng to see if I couldn't learn a few useful
things for running Win7, but instead, I'm reminded that I had intended some
time ago, to switch to primarily using Linux.

As of this afternoon, my computer will be running Ubuntu 9.10, with Win7 in
a VM, when I need it for some reason.

I imagine that those idiot trolls will take this as a victory, or something.
Piss on them. I expect to continue using Windows for as long as I'm alive,
and Windows still exists. Each OS has strengths and weaknesses, and to
insist upon using just one of them for everything means that you'll miss out
on learning interesting and useful things. Hell, I've got an Exidy Sorcerer
and a Sol from the '70s, and once my new house is in order, they'll be up
and running, too. Hhehehehh.

Sheesh, I've even got a Xerox 860 word processor in my garage....but no
operating disk for it. Just gotta love those single-sided 8" floppies!

You've nailed that one! One of the surest signs that an individual knows
little about computing, is when they start bashing systems they don't use
(usually have never used). Real computer geeks just love playing with
computers, old OR new, of any type they can lay hands on.

In what way? The hardware is well designed, OS X is solid, and as I
understand it, the software is often the best in class. YMMD, of course.

Both Macs crashed badly that they had to be sent back to the factory. Even
the local shop couldn't figure out what happened to them.

OS X...So solid that if you had the Guest Account enabled when you
upgraded to the latest version, all user accounts were erased.

How it is well designed?
It is using standard hardware that you can buy much cheaper from any
computer store.

Mac OS X still lives in the days of the single threaded finder and other
crap like that.

The software is much more expensive that their Windows versions, that is
if you could find software for them that does that job that you want.

Typical of Macs.

Well, well. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone. OTOH, that's a rather
egregious fault.

Funny, until this thread, I'd never heard of these problems. I know a
number of Macheads, but none of them have ever indicated anything like this
with their Macs.

Now come on.
Either the people you know are not telling you when they have problems
or you need to know more Mac users. :)
