folder read only....but it's not!

Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction here..
Small home network, three computers (plus some laptops wirelessly) all on Xp
pro (SP2).
Trying to save onto one computer (used mainly as a *server* type machine
storing files/folders etc., needed by other users) documents from word
created on another computer that refuse to save because the message tells me
the folder is "Read Only"
Now, I've checked the destination folder and 'read only' in the properties
for that folder is unchecked so, it appears, the folder is NOT read only.
What else is going on here or is there something mindlessly simple that I'm
missing?

Check File Permissions *and* Share Permissions.

(Now archived for posterity.)

Yes. Exactly right.

Share permissions didn't give full control over the folder.

time..

No problem! Glad to help out.

It's actually a common thing - seen it and done it myself. ;-)
