Flash drive operation, On XP with my 8GB SanDisk Cruzer when I click
safe removal the light goes out on the flash drive, but on Windows 7 it
stays on after performing the same safe removal operation.

Anybody else notice this?

Yes, that started in Vista. At first I thought there was a problem, but
soon found it was normal and haven't had a problem removing media after
choosing to safely remove them. Just don't forget to do that with an
external hard drive using USB and then try to use it with another OS, or
you will have to plug it back into a Windows machine and then safely
remove it. The HD gets flagged and can't be mounted otherwise. ALWAYS
choose to safely remove, as also Winders gets confused and you wind up
not being able to use USB until the problem gets fixed. MS boasted hot
swapping, (Not needing to do safe removal), with USB, but that isn't a
good idea at all.

G'day
