If you can describe more details about the convenience you miss/seek
there may be other ideas.
What I find convenient is when move the mouse anywhere near the left side of
the screen (where I've put my shortcut toolbar, autohide mode) and not just
over a small area, the toolbar appears without clicking on anything, and
just the icons appears. I really prefer that the Quick Launch Bar .
