The Center on Education Policy updated their website for monitoring waivers issued by the U.S. Department of Education to U.S. schools excusing them from meeting Federal academic performance standards required under No Child Left Behind (NCL8) and Education School Education Act (ESEA).

Twenty six (26) states plus Washington, D.C. submitted applications under the February 28, 2012 deadline.

Five (5) states plus Puerto Rico indicated they will apply under the September 6, 2012 deadline.

Montana, has officially announced that it will not seek a waiver.

The question not answered by this update is, "Which students will these states leave behind, and why, for how long, and for what consequence to those students?"
