Drive letter issues

When I tried to install a new copy of Windows XP to access the last part
(250 gig) of free data, XP deleted the complete harddisc (sata is
switched to ide mode).
I managed to restore the deleted partitons, but ofcourse I can not
startup from the Windows drive anymore, I guess because it's moved to
another drive letter.
After that I installed a new windows XP copy. Question is the last 250
gigs on the Samsung sata drive can not be accessable so I might aswell
give up to try to activate it.

I can see the old Windows on which I use to run the OS.

I got a fresh XP installed that one runs ok.

Can I somehow copy the old drive on the freshly installed copy? In that
case I can go back to my old XP which I prefair.
In this case I guess it's not an option to copy the old XP partition,
otherwise the new copy of XP won't run either.

I'm kinda stuck. If I start changing driveletters I think the problems
will be getting worse, and since not al partionmangers like the sata
switched to ide mode I don't have much to choose from.

All needed to be done is just copy the contence from one XP drive to
another instead of copying the complete partition (I think).
Or can I copy the old partition (not running) with XP (used to be C) to
the new XP (C now)
Anyone can help me out?

I think your best bet is to format both partitions, then install
Windows in c:/.

An installation of win does not delete the complete disk / partition unless
you elected to do so, neither does running in ide mode have any impact.
Its unclear whether you were trying to create a dual boot sys or whether you
have the large LBA problem where your version of winxp cannot see / utilse
large disks eg
