Does MS Office have an Optical Character Reader?

I would rather scan than type two pages of type. I rarely have a need for OCR
and do not have capability, I don't think, right now. Is there an MS Office
or free app that would serve my "once a decade" need?

The Microsoft Office Document Imaging Utility has OCR, not great but it
works for small stuff as long as you are willing to proof it's output.

My Lexmark printer/scanner came with some very good OCR software called
ABBYY Fine Reader which makes a Word document and even adds mark up (like
font and point size). It even sorts outs columns. I must confess I was
well impressed but the the last OCR I saw was Kurzweil back in the
seventies,
