Agreed.

Not for me, using 40tude Dialog. I also have the same good luck when I
use MesNews, usually.

It really *should not* break the threads, since it is standard
procedure, in some groups at least, to add, among other items, things
like OT to the subject line when a reply goes off-topic.

The headers of any post have - or should have - cross references, like
References: <MPG.26f0988a925e96bc989688@news.giganews.com>

I took this one from the first reply in this thread, since the
references header gets pretty long pretty quickly. This one refers only
to the original post, but further down thread, the header will contain a
series of references referring, in order, to every post in the trace
back to the OP. Any of what I would have to call compliant newsreaders
will use the references headers to set up the thread display.

I don't see what the fuss is as it hasn't broken the threading for me
either.

Actually, I was wrong about that - they all appeared to be separate new
threads to me because I had already deleted their earlier parent
messages. When I reconstructed the thread, all your messages fell where
they should have, even with the subject changes.

Sorry about that.

I can't understand them over a normal connection.
I should brush up on my Punjabi.

That's funny, the guy I talked to had a mid-western accent.

Snip
Which I recall seeing a lot when I used the text newsgroups on a daily
basis a few years ago so I thought nothing of putting "thanks" in the
subject line.
>Sigh<

Newsreaders seem to have gone backwards these past few years.
Thanks Gene.
