Cumulative Security Update for IE8 kb980182

Hello,
I have had the above security update for IE8 install through Windows Update.
Has anyone else had issues? If I shut down the system, when rebooting, I get
an error message " Cannot access Userfile: may be not on this disk". I am
able to get around this by logging off as the current blank user. The system
also has gone to Classic View with no option to change to the Vista view. The
sidebar is also now opaque instead of transparent. I have a Compaq laptop
with 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium, Mobile Sempron processor 3500+ 1.8ghz
with 1gb ram.

Is Vista SP1 and/or SP2 installed?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running
in the background when you installed IE8?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
