CrossOver Linux 9: Run Windows apps without Windows

This author is as bias as Alias! I have yet to see him write anything pro
Microsoft. Look I don't like everything Microsoft does, but they really put
out a good product in Windows 7 and if you don't like it, you don't have to
use it. The Linux desktop OS is nothing more than a hobby OS. If Microsoft
didn't exist, then I'm pretty sure most people would get a MAC. I don't mind
a good debate, but he brings nothing to the table as far as credibility! No
wonder why Alias likes him so much...

I wouldn't say that.

If MS did not exist, we'd all be running some decendent of IBM's
OS2/Warp.

WINE is not an emulator.

Damn Dan! I forgot about OS/2... I actually liked that OS a lot. I was
hoping for them to make some kind of run, but they sat on it way too long.
Before we knew it, Windows95 Was born. I still used OS/2 till Windows95B
came out, after that it was hard to find support and software that was
compatible with OS/2...

OEMs had a choice to go with OS/2 or Windows....

.....and they chose Windows (even though some say it was
technically inferior to OS/2....just like Betamax was
technically better than VHS, but, VHS won out).

Why ? I don't know. Maybe the OEMs didn't want to deal with IBM,
they were too big ? Who knows. Maybe it was s/w developers tha
chose.

Hmmm. I wonder if OS/2 will run in VirtualBox. I've never even
seen it.

Except OS/2 was a joint venture between IBM and Microsoft. Much
code-sharing between the 2 at the time. Warp was the start of the major
MS-IBM rift that eventually led to them no longer working together and the
eventual death of OS/2.
