I am using Windows XP Pro and configured to connect the company's domain
network. I would like to use the user account name of file server Windows
standard 2003 as computer name. Is it possible with care or not allowed at
all?

Thanks,

Scott

Giving a PC the same NetBIOS name as one of its user accounts is possible
under some versions of Windows but is a very bad habit that can cause
problems. Much better to add a suffix for the NetBIOS name, e.g. Scott_PC.

Read the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

In general it's best to try to avoid the personalization of hardware -or
software. Remember that users change, and female users change their names.
Having to rename equipment raises all kinds of problems, especially if that
equipment is registered in an Active Directory.
