Completely off topic but strange

Very off topic but only put here because of the experience and knowledge of
the people in the group.

I recently looked at a site called Bitlet which supposedly allows torrent
downloads directly without using a torrent program.

I did download a torrent of music via Bitlet, which took no time at all to
download, which now sits in a folder on my desktop. It shows several music
files,mp3, and shows their full size i.e +/- 3 Mb per file. But there seems
to be nothing there, nothing plays etc... how can they take up so much space
and be nothing??
Just curious to learn what this is about.

Any comment welcome and appreciated.

If you bung a torrent file into a torrent client, then without even
downloading anything it "reserves" on your disc the total space that the
download will take when complete. I'd imagine that's what's happened here.
For details of how it sets aside that disk space when the files aren't thre
yet, you could ask on or search a torrent forum or even Google it.
