Close laptop lid, then reopen bit later and wifi then fails tohandshake

Despite trying various IPCONFIG demands I'm not able to regain wifi
connection unless I reboot; any other clues to save having to do this
valued.

Prelude is I close laptop and leave to charge for half an hour, but do
not close down via the start button;
I turn broadband router off.
Then I switch router back on after laptop's had some juice, and laptop
see wifi connection, but no internet connection is established on
laptop.

I use these commands
IPCONFIG /CLEAR
IPCONFIG /RENEW

IF NO LUCK THEN TRY

IPCONFIG /REFRESH

but only fix is to fully reboot.

Try leaving the router on, broadband routers are designed to be always on.

I have it happen in sleep mode now and then. I simple disable then
enable the wireless card (connection). I also have a power on/off
option for the card, which does the same thing. Much simpler than
reboot.

PS I think its "ipconfig /release" not clear

At least try booting the router and wait until it indicated it has
established an internet connection before booting the laptop!

Router is left on whilst laptop lid closed; have changed wireless card
power settings but still have grief.
