Since I installed Windows7 all my Word and Excel documents are Read-only. The only way I can save any changes to a document is to rename it. The documents are Read-only despite the fact that Read-only is not checked in the Properties of the individual files or of Word 2007 or Excel 2007. How do I remove this Read-only restriction when there is nothing I can do in the Properties windows?
Hi ellarjee, If you've transferred the files via CD/DVD or you're working with files on a CD/DVD, that would explain the read-only setting. To change it, you need to copy the files to the HDD and use Windows Explorer to remove the read-only file attribute. -- Cheers macropod [Microsoft MVP - Word] "ellarjee" <ellarjee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7227FF6E-C00A-4FC7-89DB-3EA99D5F4062@microsoft.com... > Since I installed Windows7 all my Word and Excel documents are Read-only. > The only way I can save any changes to a document is to rename it.
