Canon IR 7105 Print Preferences on XP Pro

T

Flightless Bird
Hello All,

We have three Canon IR 7105 Copiers on a network (copier1, copier2, and
copier3), no server. SBS 2003 Premium which the computers sync to is at a
remote location but the computers here print directly to the copiers onsite.

While users can see all three copiers, the issue is that users do not see
all print preferences on all three. Some users see all print preferences for
copier1 only, some see all print preferences for copier2 only, while some
users only see all print preferences for copier3 only. The print options some
users do not see is the staple option. Users are able to use the staple
feature on at least one of the copiers but not all. The copier vendor has
confirmed that the copiers are well configured and not the problem. Logically
they are not eh problem because then users should not selectively see any of
the copiers at all if they are the problem.

Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be here or what can be
adjusted for users to see all option for all copiers.

Thanx.

I'm fairly certain that staple options can only possibly be offered after
software for that specific printer is installed. Not just the drivers, but
the entire software suite that came with the printer.

My habit in these situations is to uninstall everything, then reinstall and
make sure that you use updated drivers, or at least the ones that came with
it. Don't depend on the drivers that XP will automatically install, not even
if they originally came from the initial installations of the copiers. You
want to be sure to overwrite them. If it does automatically install them,
then go to Device Manager and update them to the proper ones. Other than
that one caveat, install the software according to manufacturers'
instructions. If that causes problems (which it may) then you can start over
and manually install the printer drivers, then install the software. Do one
computer and one copier at a time until you get it right, then the next
copier, then the next, then the next computer, etc.

Really? The tech can't explain what's going on? What company is it? What
make/model copier? Maybe they have some other support options.

Problems with the apparatus that manages printers from your Windows desktop
have *everything* to do with Windows, you utterly useless idiot. Please
continue reading, but please SHUT UP for a year or two and simply let it all
sink in.

Thanx for the input. What strikes me is that all three copiers have the same
drivers installed and users can see all features some one and not the others.
But as you said, I will get to Canon for the full suite of software for this
copier and post back here what the end results of that is,

The vendor could not provide any info, not even a manual or driver suite of
any kind.

It appears that the installed driver/software suffices for the copiers. I
just had to go to Printers and Faxes right-click the copiers that were not
showing the Finisher options for stapling, etc and clicked on "Device
Settings" tab. Then enabled the very first finisher option, which is V1/V1L
.... or so and all three copiers became available with the desired finisher
options.

Why all three were enabled by default on some PCs and only one or two were
enabled on others beats me. But its solved now.

Thanx.
