Can the Barnes & Noble Nook Compete Against Amazon?

While sitting in a meeting the other day, the principal wanted to know if it was more cost effective to purchase Kindle Fires rather than the Apple iPad. At no time did anyone mention the B&N Nook. This simple example supports the idea that the Nook has a long way to go to get into the consumer's head. It may be too late.

Inside the great publishing houses — grand names like Macmillan, Penguin and Random House — there is a sense of unease about the long-term fate of Barnes & Noble, the last major bookstore chain standing.​
