black screen asking how to open computer

why am i getting a quick view of black screen when my computer is loading.
asking me how i want to open the computer Window Recovery console or
Windows XP.
The windows xp is hoghlighted so it goes there. i am not pressing F12

That is either a bios screen or the load process of XP asking if you want to
boot normally or rebuild the computer to the factory delivered
specifications. It is a normal screen on many different computers. As long
as you don't press the F12 key then you are OK and let the computer continue
to boot into XP. You can open the bios and check to see if the boot option
can be changed to a shorter display time if needed. Again, some bios will
allow you to shorten the displayed time, others won't.

I have mine set to 3 seconds, time enough to select Recovery Console if
needed.

(0 seconds will eliminate this display).

thanks for the answer mine also has 30 seconds, i guess i never noticed this
before. as long as this is ok i'm happy thans again
