Hi everyone,

What are the advantages (or disadvantages) of creating

Dynamic volumes

instead of Basic volumes?

Thanks for all answers!

dynamic you can have 2 hard disks appear as one big drive

disadvantage... is that if one hard drive dies you lose all your data from
both

Interesting. . .
It seems like it only makes sense if you have more than one hard drive.

Is this still a problem that hard drive maintenance programs cannot work
with dynamic volumes???

avoid dynamic drives.. they will mess up everything

keep it simple

IMO keep well away unless you have some real need for them.

As others have said, dynamic drives are for creating large compound
drives. This could mean concatenation, striping (RAID0), mirroring
(RAID1), or RAID5. However, they don't work through USB external drive
enclosures, they only work with internal hard drives.
