Did you try changing the default language of your PC? Windows XP: How to change the Default User UI Language In Windows XP, you can set the UI language that the default user on the local machine (or a domain user that doesn't have a profile) will see at first first log on. It is also the UI language that is applied to system services running on local machine. • Open Regional Options in Contol Panel • Click on the Advanced tab • In "Default user account settings" at the bottom of the page, check the box beside "Apply all settings to the current user account and to the default user profile" If that doesn't work try copying all the CWindows\Fonts from another PC or a backup Russ -- Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Microsoft Certified Small Business Specialist 24hr SBS Remote Support - www.SBITS.Biz Question or Second Opinion $25.00 - www.PersonalITConsultant.com Free Trial Microsoft Online Services - www.Microsoft-Online-Services.com "thehunterman" <thehunterman@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AE6819E1-CF0D-412C-9699-C5F381A543A7@microsoft.com... > After booting up my desktop has changed. System Restore doesn't repair a damaged font. The system uses another font it deems similar to the missing font, when one is no longer available.. This could help, if you can repair the Tahoma font first. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm #249 Set Default XP Font Back to Tahoma A quick Google search found this helpful page. There are probably others. http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/03/how-to-fix-windows-xp-font-problems.html -- Joe =o)
Please post back what the fix was so others may use this as a reference fix (Was it the fonts?) Fixed all except: only have bad fonts on start menu at bottom left corner and when I click on start:the top left files are in bad font and so are the ones on right side (my pictures,my documents) "Elmo" wrote: > thehunterman wrote: > > After booting up, my Desktop has changed. You could try running SFC.EXE (System File Checker) on MARLETT.TTF or possibly on all fonts in that particular folder. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada)
