It's called lying, something Windroids think is perfectly OK. It's an
ends justifies the means mentality. After all, they have a very rich
teacher: Microsoft.

I never kid with a kid. Anyway, I'm not going to bandy words with a
moronic Linux troll saddoe.

Suffice to say, nothing pleases me more when the Linux dribblers try to
denigrate a fact that Windows IE8 is the safest browser in the world.
He must work for Microsoft bleat the Linux sheep. Well he does and, he
is right because I use it and have never been infected, so I should
know, moron!!

Notice how spiteful and nasty the Linux user opinions are. They are so
jealous. Remind you of anyone?

So you *do* have that little knowledge.

Bandy ? Great. You used a new word in a sentence correctly.

Where's the moronic Linux troll ?

You're the one asking the moronic questions, not me.

And you don't want to 'bandy' because you can't.

Yes.....that's exactly the way you, Frank, the nymshifter, and
others reply to Alias.

You're a fine bunch.

If you say it's hit & miss, that does mean sometimes it *does*
work OTB.

I don't know if the audio in my install of a certain distro
worked *100%* OTB because very shortly after installing, I
removed PulseAudio. System sounds did work however before
removal, but prior to that, I hadn't tried anything else, from
what I recall.

Not for me.
But, I must assume it does for some.

Once I got sound fixed, this is quite a solid distro.
The fonts look great.
I'm liking gnome.
Pogo sound works ... tested it for an hour, not a single hiccup.

Mint needs to add the boot drive selection as part of the install run.
Fedora does, and Fedora also defaults to using the /root drive.

For me, not all the codecs/non-free stuff is included.
Thought Mint was supposed to do that.
I didn't download the USA/Japan version, but did get it from an USA
server, so maybe it only adds the non-free repository.
I still needed to add medibuntu to get some stuff, like mp3 pkgs for
Rythmbox.
The setting to turn off the touch pad while typing doesn't take, so that
can be aggrevating.

But, overall, I'm probably gonna stick with this one for awhile.

And if I was doing Windows trolling in a Linux group... they'd be happy
with that, would they? Of course those lovely hard-core Linux users who
openly despise Windows wouldn't mind!!

They wouldn't mind.
Quite a few would have hours of fun.
A hundred posters all saying "me too" gets boring.

Funny you would say that, because the post I made, I wrote it,
then deleted more than 1/2 of it.

The part I deleted before posting said this.....

I've got my sisters PC here to fix. It may have a hardware
problem as I've never seen any PC run this slow w/o being loaded
up with all kinds of malware, and this one doesn't.

So I removed her HD and put in a spare, and install K*****u 9.10
on it to see if it was a hardware problem or just a super-borked
install of Windows.

When the install was done, and it was booted up for the first
time, after being on for about 5 minutes, a message box popped
up and said something to the effect of...'To enrich your
multimedia experience, it is recommeded that you install the
following packages: " and there was a list of packages that
included all the 'restricted' stuff...and a button to install.

I thought that was pretty cool

I didn't however, as I only cared if the hardware was working
OK.

.....and I don't think it is.

I know. That's why we have some good sport with "the liar".

I was just going to say...

I am a windows user and have never had a virus?

"Me too"
"Me too"
"Me too"
"Me too"

But then the Linux troll would come on and say, "you're a liar".

I take it you downloaded the CD rather than the DVD that comes with all
that stuff included.

Tried twice to DL the KDE DVD.
The 1.3 GB DL stopped at 997MB both times, and the resulting burned DVD
would not boot.
So, after much cursing at the cat, I used the gnome LiveCD.
Even if the codecs won't fit, it should still offer to get them.
Trying to get Rythmbox to open a mp3 failed, and there was no box saying
"try to get proper codecs?".
I had to add medibuntu, and get the 2 gstreamer mp3 pkgs.

Next time, I'll try using an european server.
If there is a next time, as right now it's humming along nicely.
