You're probably being facetious but there really are people
who log into their ISP's shell account and surf the Web
from a 64!

I know. :) I read something about that a few years ago. I wish I had kept my
last C64 just to play with. I sold it, along with 2 external disk drives and
a box of software, for $150 on eBay.

I already agreed that win7 is all anyone needs - read the thread,
frankie. It's also true that Linux is all anyone needs (except, possibly,
to play games - Linux is for actually getting things done. You really
need to work on that comprehension defecit.

Perhaps not _all_ games, but then, neither does Windows (not just Win7).

You need to upgrade to at least a Commodore 128, son. It's even got a Z-80
processor, for when you want to run CP/M!

Why? I don't recall having had any trouble with mine, back when it was my
primary computer.

S-100
Frank Hayes
Never Set the Cat on Fire (album)

When I was young, my friends all worked, like fools to get their share
of an S-100 system, like the Imsai, or Altair;
Well, the S-100's still around, I'm very glad to say,
but friends, I'm here to tell ya, that it's not the same today.

chorus: And it's, cheer up me lads, let your hearts never fuss,
when you're integrating systems, for the S-100 buss.

To tell the truth, the source of all our troubles seems to be
a committee on computers, of the I of triple E.
They settled on a standard spec, 696 by name,
now everything is standardized, but nothing works the same.

chorus:

They say the 84s are way too slow - it's enough to give ya fits.
If the 09 isn't fast enough, then go to 16 bits,
68 and z8000 and an 86 as well,
and code compatablility goes straight to bloody hell.

chorus:

Then add a board for the modem line, and one for every port,
and a printer board, and keyboard board, and as a last resort,
for every problem we will add a board that has the cure.
It's not too damned efficient, but it's a mother, that's for sure.

chorus:

bridge:

And when it's all assembled, there's computer to your collar.
It's nice to have a micro, but a mainframe would be smaller,
and when they turn the power on, it's sure to dim the lamps,
at plus or minus sixteen volts, and fourteen hundred amps.

chorus:

Heh. I never let any of my old computers (that work, anyway) go. I intend
to rotate which ancient machine I have set up at a time (besides my
Windoze/Linux machine). Gotta be some fun, eh? Mebbe I can get one of
those S-100 buss machines online!

Now we read the lies from our resident disgusting troll.

Four things, asshole

1. I own a copy of Win 7.
2. Owning a copy isn't a requirement to post here.
3. You don't get to tell *anyone* here what to do.
4. You know very little about what Win 7 or Ubuntu can or cannot do. In
short, you're a n00b.

"All you need is Windows 7"...AND, Zone Alarm or comparable, and an AV
program, and a Malware program, and a Root Kit program, and a safer
browser, and, and, and. PLUS a LOT of time to devote to re-installing
Winders after a crash or infection from, hopefully, a back-up otherwise
re-installing EVERYTHING and/or maintaining all that crap to monitor.
(If it works) That's just if you catch junk off the internet, let alone
a fried system after an MS update! (Which MS denies it happens
ROTFLMAO).. ..(STFU, as it happens regularly, as I personally can attest
to!) ..The usual for Winders.

While I have had generally few problems with Vista Ultimate, (Except
after a KSOD recently, which was after an update! Yeah, and then a clean
install as recommended by MS.) and Win 7, and although I like them, they
haven't been without their problems. OTOH, I have NOT had to deal with
the SAME sort of problems in Linux, not nearly.. Hmmm... Go figure. SO
STFU about Winders being the answer to everything, as it is NOT without
IT'S FAULTS period. ..Nor is Linux perfect and without it's quirks and
problems. I won't say one or the other is absolutely better than the
other. They both have their good and bad, so I use them both for the
best of both worlds. Quit trying to make one out to be better than the
other, it just ain't so..
