Access is denied

WHP 64-bit. Only user.

According to Windows Explorer, in my personal folder I have several
subfolders. Many of these (such as Desktop, Downloads, My Music) I have
full access to. However, there are a number of hidden folders, whose
attributes are HSDLI, that I get "Access is denied" when I click on them.
These folders, such as Application Data, Cookies, Start Menu, Send To also
appear to have a shortcut icon associated with them. When I right click and
check on properties, security, and permissions, I appear to have full
access.

Similarly, in Local Disk C:, I cannot access Documents and Settings.

Any idea how I can get access to these folders?

TIA

They are junction points for software compatibility. If you had system
files hidden you wouldn't see these.

Thanks. Just moving from XPH to Win7, and it's a steep learning curve.

In Vista and in Windows 7, "Documents and Settings" is not a folder.
Vista/Win7 uses a different file structure than XP does/did. Those familiar
folder names you may be used to, like "My Documents", "Documents &
Settings", etc. are not folders in Vista/Win7. They are junction points,
and are used for
legacy programs which were written to utilize the XP file structure. They
will redirect the programs to use the equivalent Vista/Win7 folders.
If you keep the protected operating system files hidden, you won't see them.

In Vista/Win7......
Documents & Settings -> \Users
My Documents -> \Users\youraccount\Documents
My Music -> \Users\youraccount\Music
Application Data -> \Users\youraccount\AppData
etc.
