Above all, what does management software have to do with Shakespeare?

Well, Shakespeare was co-owner of the Globe Theatre in London - this
burned down, but they rebuilt it but the Puritans tore it down again,
and in 1980 something it was rebuilt - almost 400 years later!

It's all hardware, though - hard wood, hard stone, hard ground -
the only soft wares are the costumes, and maybe cushions if
they have those on the seats which I don't believe they do.

If Shakespeare had had any kind of software for his computer
in 1594, he would have been able to make copies of his
plays much faster - providing his printer would have worked
without electricity.

Liebe Leute, wenn Ihr Euren Stuss in humanities lit authors
Shakespeare

jeder Beziehung...

No worries, Bob Villa. We here at humanities lit authors Shakespeare
are so snotty, so snobbish, such upper-class intellectuals we can
shite on
people in every language.

At the end of the day, though, we on this newsgroup
are way nicer than most people in the
German-speaking part of the world, such as SWITZERLAND, where I,
poor wandering Brit, am forced to live and bear the rotten weather,
and AUSTRIA and GERMANY.
We are also probably also way nicer than people from France, who
can be really rough and really snotty, si tu n'est pas Français
toi-même et si tu parle pas cette language - Français - avec
l'accent d'un etranger, then they really look down their noses
at you.
You, however, are an American, and they are usually just a tick
friendlier than all of the above...probably because
your weather is nicer
your country is bigger
you can get rid of your president every four years
and
your burgers are larger.
Not to speak of the steaks.
(Of course the French have the best cheeses, so that
just might explain their snottiness.)

By the way, will netbooks ever be less expensive?
I can buy a laptop for that price, and have way more
stuff on it like a DVD burner and more storage
space - just 'cos a netbook is smaller...

And now - back to Shakespeare.

Thanks for the kind words (in English)!
I agree about netbooks...if they were $150 I might think about it. For
$300 you can get a Toshiba with Windows 7 and 3gigs of ram (not the
everyday price, mind you!)
Cheers,

course, this has been multiple posted originally.

Oh I love the little guys! So much, I bought five of them. They are so
light and quiet and runs for many hours on battery. I even connected one
up to an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. And most of the time,
you forget the brains is really just a tiny netbook only using 10 watts
of power. And carrying them around all day is no big deal. And as a
test, I only used one single netbook for two months straight. And I
didn't miss a bigger machine one bit. And these things are really rugged
too. And the best part is they are so Star Trek like. There isn't much
of a down side to them at all.

I remember when Asus first came out with their first netbook in 2007.
Many experts were saying there was no market for such a machine. And
boy, were they ever wrong! They started selling like hotcakes. Then
other manufactures started to come out with their own netbooks.

But then again, I remember back when experts were saying that laptops
would never make it either. Now look at them, outselling desktop
machines. And it looks like netbooks might be outselling laptops by as
early as by next year. That would be a very impressive feat IMHO.

So what will topple netbook sales? How about people going nuts over the
next innovation of netglasses. Where the glasses are the screen and the
mouse follows your eye movements. And you blink your left eye for a left
mouse click, right for the right one. Heck I would buy one of those.
Maybe five of them. ;-)

I know, and I'm flat broke. 150.oo would be the right price.
But my normal laptop - an Acer Aspire 5315
(with VISTA on it - is there no mercy for people like me?! No wonder
I'm bitchy!) - is so HEAVY, and I have it at the office (I'm self-
employed
with my husband) and take it home from time to time and it just tears
my arm out at the shoulder...

Aaarrgh! Why did you have to tell me this! I need a netbook to
scribble my short stories on. I go by bus and write into a
pupil's paper notebook with an ink pen, and then I have type
it all up, and I would so want a netbook that is light and

sobbing quietly into her handkerchief, but I'm broke at
the moment as although I live in Switzerland
I do NOT belong to UBS management
with their huge bonuses...
BUT my birthday is coming up, so there is still hope...!

I know you have posted on this before (alot!) but I don't recall your
impressions of using netbooks for writing.

I do a lot of foolin' around on a computer but my main activity is
writing, emails but also longer documents (comments on papers, papers).
and this month or next I also will have to put together a number of
essays into a 100 page document and format it to be sent to a printer.

I'm about to lug my faithful laptop to Germany but wonder what it would
be like to live out of a netbook instead and do the above stuff.

I do know you favor glaze-free matte screens as I do. hard to find in
stores (USA) though the hp mini comes pretty close. glareless or as close
as possible is a must for me. well, that's a different question.

so how are they for intensive writing?

Yes indeed. I was just looking a bit further into the future with my
imagination. As far as I know, there really is no such thing as
netglasses. As I made the name up. But it will probably become available
sometime in the future. ;-)

Oh sorry to hear that Melanie. I really dislike typing in something
already printed or handwritten too. If we were very good friends, I
wouldn't mind lending you one of mine. But you can find used netbooks on
eBay for around $150.
