THE TERM STATE OF THE ART (SOTA) of teaching-learning refers to that set of skills and methods that yield the most learning at this time. SOTA is the standard against which results from other sets of skills and methods are compared and their adequacy are judged. Standardized examinations (tests) of learners have served as routine ways to make these comparisons since the start of their development by Alfred Binet in the 1890s France.
State-of-the-Art of Teaching and Learning
A learners’ view (ALV) features the SOTA for teaching and learning, at least in the early 21st Century. ALV represents results of experimental behavioral and social research on teaching and learning. These results describe choices learners make while learning that teachers match while teaching. By matching choices, teachers have consistently instructed lessons that all learners learn. Other teachers may also apply these teaching skills and methods to obtain similar results. These are teachers who earn the rank of 1.0 Teachers who offer 1.0 Lessons.
In this sense, 1.0 Teachers exist as the SOTA of teaching and learning.
