After meeting with public school classroom teachers at the Inaugural ALV Alpha Users Gathering last week, we added a learners’ view (ALV) of what may be called LEARNERS RULES FOR TEACHING. While watching and listening to them address the Highlights of ALV, it appeared that a one page list of basic ALV principles for teaching might be easier for them to use.
Rules… describes what 1.0 teachers and those trying to earn that rating do routinely while teaching. These rules are grounded in experimental behavioral and social science research study results continuously refined in laboratories and classrooms during almost 125 years and tested in with millions of learners in and out of public schools.
An implicit aspect of these studies is that learners make choices teachers may manage, but not control, while learners learn. These rules summarize the craft of teaching for teachers in detailed descriptions of learning, including of a classic education or of other names for education currently fashionable.
We reduced the number of these rules for easy reference by teachers.
