About our wedding

We’re happy that you’re able to share in our wedding celebration!

Saturday, July 30th, 2011
10:45am until 2:00pm

Our wedding and reception will be located on the national historic landmark vessel – the steamship Virginia V. Boarding will begin at 10:30am. The ship will leave the dock at 10:50am, promptly. So, please be on time so you don’t miss the boat!

The voyage will take us from South Lake Union, through Portage Bay, around Lake Washington and then return to South Lake Union dock.

While in the center of Lake Union, the ceremony will take place on the deck by the bow of the boat. Afterward, you may enjoy lunch in the passenger salon or out on deck. Be sure to check out the Engine Deck while you’re onboard too.

After the boat returns to dock, please join us for ice cream in the park. We have arranged for Molly Moon’s ice cream truck to provide several flavors.

Gifts and Registry

Rather than contributing to the amassing of our own goods, please consider a donation to your favorite nonprofit organization that does work to make the world a better place. If you are looking for an idea of an organization to which you can donate, here are some of our favorites, in no particular order:

  • Solid Ground. Based in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, Solid Ground’s nearly 30 programs help over 38,000 households each year to overcome poverty and build better futures throughout King County and beyond.
  • Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit, ecumenical organization founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. Habitat for Humanity builds with people in need regardless of race or religion.
  • Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.
  • Heifer International works with communities to end hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth by implementing the simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief .
  • The Jane Goodall Institute seeks to improve global understanding and treatment of great apes through research, public education and advocacy; contribute to the preservation of great apes and their habitats by combining conservation with education and promotion of sustainable livelihoods in local communities; and create a worldwide network of young people who have learned to care deeply for their human community, for all animals and for the environment, and who will take responsible action to care for them.
