May 23 is Final Day to Register to Vote in California Primary

The Republican Party nominee is Donald Trump and the major news outlets, DNC, and Mrs. Clinton might want you to think the primary season is over for the Democratic Party, too. However residents of the 475 delegate-rich state of California have not voted.

This is important because unless Mrs. Clinton wins over 75% of the delegates in the remaining contests she will not reach the number of needed pledged delegates before the Democratic National Convention in July.

Most media outlets are adding in superdelegates who supported her campaign before Senator Bernie Sanders entered the race. Superdelegates are free to change their support, and many switched to Mr. Obama in 2008 toward the end of the primary season.

Mr. Sanders has been campaigning hard in California this past week. In contrast, Mrs. Clinton has been silent, including breaking her pledge to debate Mr. Sanders in California.

Nate Silver’s of 538, using weighted polling averages, predicts Mrs. Clinton has a 93% chance of winning the California primary.

Regardless, midnight on Monday, May 23, is the last day to register to vote in the June 7 primary election.

California residents 18 and older can register for the first time or update their current registrations at their county election offices or online at www.registertovote.ca.gov.
