I've seen a few articles on Ximian Desktop 2 but couldn't find a place on the ximain website to download it. Instead there isa message that it will be available on June 9.

Anyone know if it is possible to get it before then? (shy of becoming a reviewer). Does this mean the reviews were based on betas?

It will not be available before then. There is a directory for it at ftp.ximian.com, but it is currently inaccessable. Look for it to be accessable June 9th and expect a red-carpet channel as well. It may take a few days to get though, as traffic will be high.

The reviews were based on release candidates, I believe. The public release is due "the week of June 9", to quote the Press Release (http://www.ximian.com/about_us/press_center/press_releases/index.html?pr=xd2_announce).
