Bonzai Linux makes the job of installing Debian-base a little easier.

Also it may help if you have problem with nVidia card, try add these to your this

deb http://s.bouncybouncy.net/nvidia_debs stable/

to your sources.list and run:

apt-get update
apt-get install nvidia-kernel-2.4.18-bf2.4

The www.apt-get.org has a lot of useful resources to add to the list.
