View Full Version : Origin of deselected
Does anyone know the origin of the use of the word deselected?
It strikes me odd whenever I see it.
Seriously now. This isn't a joke.
If deselected (originating in 1965) means to reject or dismiss then why is it used in apt-get to state which packages are being installed?
Or am I miss reading the messages?
Maybe this question is too obtuse.
Sadly, dselect Documentation for Beginners (http://www.debian.org/releases/2.1/i386/dselect-beginner.en.html#contents) does not explain the origin of the word dselect (similar to deselect).
