After months of not writing (in any serious manner), my daughters and I have been working on a comparison of SuSE and MDK.

We have agreed on the first three paragraphs that I wrote this AM (took me 6 hours to write 3 paragraphs - yikes!). Well, we agreed that they'd re-write the first three paragraphs.

This thread is designed for anyone who would like to contribute to the review by adding suggestions for making sure it is a good resource for new users.

I haven't tried any of the recent Mandrake's yet. I really wonder how their configuration tools are now. With the versions I tried, 8.0 and 8.1, the tools would crash all the time. I've never seen a Yast crash with any SuSE version I used (6.1, 6.4, 7.3, 8.0, 8.1 and 8.2).
I'm also really curious about the speed of both distros. How fast they boot, how fast Konqueror launches etc.

Good suggestions ! We'll try to add those ideas to the review.

We have the first five paragraphs done. We are going to focus on the administrative tools (YaST versus DrakTools).

Dad is REALLY a slow writer but he hasn't written in a long time. It's nice to see his thoughts. :D

I'm stuck on the powertweak installation within SuSE. Looks like I'm going to have to contact them. I can't tell if there is a problem with the FTP mirror or something else going on :(
