I first have to say that you're website has for sure added value!
I even like you're concept. But it' s way to heavy. Saving the page it's about 50 kB meaning that the page is loading in fragments and builds up while you're looking to it. In those days of broadband it's onacceptable that you have to waight for the whole content before you can look into the pages.
I hope that you've something about this remark, no hard feelings. It's just about user usebality I would like to point you for the way you have build you're site.
Keep up the good work!
Regards
Good morning :D
This site is built using PostNuke (http://www.postnuke.com) and based on PHPNuke (http://www.phpnuke.org). Both rely on PHP and MySQL.
The theme is a modified one based on AsturksA. The site is heavy, with many optional addon blocks. I've added many and subtracted many over the course of the last year. In fact, heavy graphics load the site but make it more eye-candyish, which my daughters love.
Load time has always been a real complaint of mine. I've built a site with PHP Nuke and it loads very fast. Take a look at one of my favorite sites PCLinuxOnline (http://www.pclinuxonline.com) and you'll see it is built with PHP Nuke. It loads quickly because the theme is simple.
You might want to go to /user.php and play with the themes and see if there is one that loads fast for you. There is a "lite" theme designed for modem users. You might try it first and see if you like it.
I hope this answers your questions. If not then let me know. Good luck with all of you Linux uses and welcome to Tux Reports.

Well, good evening would be better (GMT+1) :).
I couldn't find the theme's you're refering to with /user.php. It's the normal setup page when I'm logged in!
And it was clear from the beginning that you're site was build with a PHPNuke like: I recognised the lay out as I've used PHPNuKe myself.
But I'm just wundering if this eye-candyish is adding any functionality to the site and his use. Perhaps you're daughters like it, I don't.
Buth that's just a matter of taste I guess.
Anyway, if you can point me to the right direction regarding the themes I would be gratefull.
And I won't complaint anymore after this reply, because it's about Linux is'nt it?
Regards
Try this link for the user.php page:
http://www.tuxreports.com/user.php?op=chgtheme
See if that helps speed up the site.
And don't worry about complaining around here about the site. I constantly play around and sometimes the site looks terrible and so we just change it again :D

Well, the link you gave me doesn't work. I see now ( because I'm using IE 6.0 SP2 @ work) that the way of loading the site is complete different then at home. There I used Mozilla and indeed using Mozila (1.2 or 1.3) at work does exactly the same as at home. So the way of loading (starting with the left part of the page first over the whole width of the screen and then loading the right part of the site pushing the left part back to his position!) is different in IE against Mozilla. I'm wundering how the site will look when I'm using Linux-Mozilla, because (shame on me ;) ) I've used M$ when I notice the previous and the last observations.
Regards,
Forgot. I have temporarily disabled users from being able to override the theme. This is because the themes are being cleaned out.
