I tried to post some comment to two of the articles. One of my comments took about 1/2 hout to compose.

When I hit "submit" I get a message saying something along the lines of "you must type a message"

It wasn't a timeout, because my second attempt took < a minute.

What browser were you using?

What time did this happen?

The article comments are phpBB and should be fairly stable -- so I'm a bit perplexed what it could be .... I do that about 10 pm pacific last night the site completely timed out and it took about 5 minutes before service was returned.

I also know that this theme seems to be causing problems for odd things and I was talking to LJ about needing something else :(

Oh. Forgot to say ...

Sorry about the problem

Realized after posting the last comment that anyone who would spend 1/2 to write a comment to an article -- and it doesn't post -- would be a bit upset or :x

I was in windoze, using phoenix , I posted here right after I had the problem.

I'm guessing it was 1/2 hour, I was refuteing some of your comments about Linux vs MS, so it required some thought.

No big deal.

Well, I couldn't figure out why there were troubles with the PHPBB module so I returned the comments to the original comments module.

However, someone sent a message stating that I had removed their comments and therefore they were upset.

The exact quote from the unknown individual:

I was disappointed to find that my comments regarding your \"Time to Wake up\" editorial had been removed. I reviewed you posting conditions/requirements and felt that my post fell well within your expectations. Count my daughters and me disappointed and no longer members of your community.

I'm sad that the person didn't even give me a chance to explain what happened. I made no attempt to cut anyone's comments. Instead, I really didn't see any comments under that heading and only the complaint that someone had tried to post.

:(

Next time, leave an email address and let's talk about it rather than jumping to conclusions.

Oops -- this is LPH -- sorry -- didn't realize EMH was logged into the site.

Anyone who complains without leaving a way to respond is probably just a troll. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Your "regulars" know that you tweak things around here on a regular basis & that occasionally these things happen.

It's not like anything we had to say is going to alter the course of history ;o)

Heh heh, true enough...

But, then, comments by folks who don't take the time to register a psuedonym are *always* discounted to some extent in my mind. If a person belives what they are saying, they should at least put a fake name to it ;o)
