Just wanted to mention a few issues w/ login:

I usually come here with the Phoenix browser running in Linux, recently, (3 or 4 days) when I come here auto-login isn't working. When I manually log in, I end up in my user prefs page instead of back on the home page.

Last night, I couldn't get out of the prefs page at all (every link I tried reloaded the prefs page). I finally hit the browser "back" button & got to the home page, & was logged in... hmmmmm.

So this morning I'm in windoze &IE (I have not visited this page w/ IE since the page has been re-vamped). First thing I notice is the list of stories at the bottom of the page is about 3x longer than it has been.

Then I log in (got taken to the prefs page, but was able to click a link to get back to "home") & the list of stories has shrunk to 5.

It's not a big deal, just wanted you to know...

I'm also having the same problem. When I log in on the new login page I get taken to the user perference page and the only way for me to get to the form is ether use the back button or my bookmark.

Maybe if there was a link from user preference page going into the forum but then we would miss the articles and all thats on the home page.

I use Mozilla 1.1 which has stored my password. When I log in, I too am taken to my TuxReports personal preferences page.

My theme is no longer the default with yellow background/black penguins, but another I had chosen when I had first become a member. This theme has the menu options for About Us | Journals | Contact Us | and so on and so on. So I am still able to move about the site.

Just a guess, but perhaps you can chose a theme and get your site menus back.

The new default theme is responsible for the behavior after logging into the website -- sending the member to the user preference page.

I haven't spent time to look into the theme.php page but I'm sure this can be changed. Now that I'm back from PA ;-)

OK, but is it also responsible for the lack of ability to get back to the home page, once logged in?

It's like being locked out of the page. Iv'e got to go "back" & then, (for some reason) I'm loggged in.If you need more info, let me know.

Well, it is defintely responsible for going to the user.php page. I'm not sure why you are not able to get back to the home page. Since I don't see this behavior, I'm guessing. However, it may simply be a bad cookie and you could delete it, clear the cache, and try again. See if that solves it.

I planned on working on that theme and see where the problem is...

Sadly, student grades are due.

Interesting, I couldn't get logged in this morning, but I came here tonight & was auto-logged in.

Just thought you might like to know ;o)

Just a final update, I've been getting auto-logged in since my last post, not sure if it's something you did, or what, but it's OK now.
