Win4Lin works like a charm in JAMD.
Read About It here. (http://www.boycottmicrosoft.net/jamd/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1326#1326)
See IT in Action (http://www3.sympatico.ca/gberta/w4l-1.png) here.
How about some details
:P
Did you download this win4lin? What version?

You can do it off thier site, if you have a regiseted copy, (or willing to buy one online).
The graphic installer, it just tells you that's what it's doing. When you are done, you will have your JAMD 2.18.18-8.0 kernel and and added WIN4LIN kernel plus if you dual boot whatever else you had in grub prior to the install. The WIN4LIN is the new default boot.
The only time you are in cli is to cd to your extracted win4lin directory as su and ./win4lin-installer. The rest is handled by the installer.
It is basically a 4 part install:
1) The gui installer
2) The kernel patch
3) The win4lin app itself
4) The install of win98 or me
This now lets me use my canon fb330 scaner, quicken, and quick-tax. Netravers documentation and support are excellent as well.

Does Netraverse have a pre-patched kernel specifically for JAMD or did you do the patch yourself? Or do you use the RedHat kernel?
I installed Win4Lin on a Mandrake 9.0 setup about 2 weeks ago. It works wonderfully. In fact, Win98SE is more stable now then when NOT running under Linux. Quicken 99 Deluxe and Lotus Smartsuite Millennium Edition work flawlessly.
I have tried to download JAMD 0.5 four times this week, but each time, the md5sum does not match. I don't understand why my downloads continue to be flawed. Since I don't have any i686 hardware (AMD K6-2 is the best I have) it doesn't make any difference anyhow.
But it sounds as if your JAMD/Win4Lin is a very nice setup. Enjoy it. :D

Netraverse has the patch for the redhat 2.18.18 kernel, (which jamd uses)and that is all handled by the netraverse installer.

From the primary or secondary site?? I have allways used the Illinois site with no problems.

I was only able to download from the Illinois mirror. When I tried the other site, it must have been down as I received unavailability messages. As I say, since I don't have 686 hardware, it is probably a non-issue.
Personally, I prefer Debian distributions for ease of maintenance. But this Mandrake 9.0 is working well and meeting my current needs. My favorite distro is Libranet.
What kind of hardware are you running on your JAMD install? And what version of Quicken do you use under Win4Lin? Is everything working as before?

What kind of hardware are you running on your JAMD install?
Tyan 1854 mobo w/celeron 400mhz and 320mb ram. The i686 compiled JAMD v5 is noticably more responsive then say redhat 8.1.
And what version of Quicken do you use under Win4Lin?
Quicken 2002, and yes the browser to the bank for downloads works as it does in say XP. Update the win98 to the newest browser and outlook express first though. I got error messages the first time as the quicken 2002 default browser is newer then the win98 installed browser.

While I had purchased Quicken 2002 about a year ago, I found I didn't like it as well as Quicken 99 and decided to go back. Just seems too busy to me and most of the additions were for online banking stuff I don't use. In my opinion, the embedded financial planner is no where as good as the standalone version included with Quicken 99 Deluxe. But I'm glad it is working well for you under Win4Lin and JAMD.
You were talking about IE versions in your post. I decided to stick with 5.5 SP2 for now. The only thing I find strange with IE under Win4Lin are certain animated graphics at different web sites. They seem to cycle very rapidly and with a lot of flash. Do you get this effect on your system? Normally if a site doesn't work well with Mozilla, I just avoid it. But CBS Sportline wasn't doing well with Mozilla and my son wanted to get the basketball scores. What is your experience in this area?
Enjoy your JAMD!
