I have a distro of debian called progeny. I installed in and the software instalation manager says fail to initialize apt cache. Now I can't seem to figure out how to reduild the cache. Some weeks ago I had ask about xandros and youall said run aptget and thoses instructions worked for that problem. But don't seem to help with this one.

I got to get past this inorder to continue, because the instalation only used one disk, and I have disk two to install. I need to install some internet utilities to got online. inorder to run aptget online also.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried?

apt-get --fix-broken dist-upgrade
