Pulled from Lindows forum.

As you know, we launched VirusSafe yesterday. We have now just launched SurfSafe. SurfSafe is an integrated web filtering service, built right into the OS, that filters out pornography and other sites that might not be appropriate for children. The press release on this isn't until Thursday morning, so you're getting a couple days early sneak preview.

SurfSafe has a lot of cool things about it, and you can learn more here and here.

SurfSafe requires the latest CNR Client, 3.0.38 or higher, which was pushed live yesterday so your computer should automatically update to this version of the client the next time you start your computer, if it hasn't already. If you're on 3.0.38 and don't see the SurfSafe node and icon in your system tray, use the Check for Updates option in the Go menu of the CNR Client.

This service is $49 per year, but like with VirusSafe, Insiders get it for free!

Note: It can take up to 15 minutes for VirusSafe to begin filtering after the first time you turn it on.

Tell us what you think!

Kevin

Introducing VirusSafe, the new, built-in antivirus software protection for LindowsOS, powered by Vexira from Command Central.

Members,

Below you will find a press release that will be going out tomorrow morning. We wanted to give our users the first headsup about this new antivirus feature and answer a few additional questions you might have. Most of the information is in the press release, but a few other things to be aware of...

The new "VirusSafe" service is integrated into LindowsOS via the CNR Client. It incorporates the Vexira antivirus program from Command Central. This product normally sells for $34.95 but is available to LindowsOS users for only $29.95, and includes a year of automatic updates. Insiders will be pleased to know that we've added this service to their account FOR FREE!

You can buy and turn on the VirusSafe feature from within the CNR client by clicking on the VirusSafe node or by clicking on the new VirusSafe icon found in the system tray (lower-right hand corner of your desktop, next to the CNR icon.)

VirusSafe requires the latest CNR Client, 3.0.38 or higher, which was pushed live earlier today so your computer should automatically update to this version of the client the next time you start your computer, if it hasn't already. If you're on 3.0.38 and don't see the VirusSafe node and icon in your system tray, use the Check for Updates option in the Go menu of the CNR Client.

This is our first release of VirusSafe, so your comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
