View Full Version : Is LindowsOS Good For Linux?

Madpenquin puts the hammer down on Lindows. First off, let me start by saying that I am well aware of the principles of open source software. I understand that I can take the code, make it mine, lock it down, and sell subscriptions to it for a price... but is that right? Is that good for Linux? This is the big question I am posing in this article.

Not to take away from the opinion but there are more interesting projects on my list of attention. First, JAMD seems to be quietly putting together nice distribution. Ark Linux has a good concept but the alpha won't load on my i810 machine and so I'm out of luck looking at it. Evil Entity is quite spectacular -- and they chose to run Enlightenment as their wm.

IMHO, the Linux community is better served accepting Lindows.com as based on Debian and move on with life. If it really bothers you then check out other projects. Besides, Mr. Robertson is not and should not be a target. Any personal attacks are silly because we do not personally know him. There are too many people willing to criticize him and quite frankly it isn't our place. We were not put on this Earth to be jealous of someone else's energy and desires. We have our own faults to improve.

OK, enough high horse stuff.

Dont use it but will someday have to fix a machine with it on - no doubt !
just like the other win dose , you dont have to use it but you should give credit where credit is due ! This guy has been able to sell another popeel-o-meal to the public which will just add to the confusion by mom and pop to what there machine has on it and why cant i get my old programs to work ! at least someone is able to sell still !
Yes lets just get on with life and make linux better for all !
