I just posted a link to Tim's story about his thoughts on LWE. A few months ago my daughters and I talked about organizing a gathering of penguins. We stopped when we heard about the Lindows gathering. We started talking about it again after the desktoplinux fall out. However, maybe the approach is all wrong.
This is what I wrote ... and maybe we could talk about starting LinuxShowFund.org (something that is just an idea) ...
Personally, I think the community goofed by not setting things up to make sure more projects had a booth. Maybe we can set something up to make sure projects make it to the trade show. We could simply have an area of a website which lists the projects and allows people to donate for the express purpose of getting the projects to the trade shows. A meter could show how much was collected and how much is needed to get at least three people there. There could also be a list of all the projects, names, people, etc. This could be operated very much like the sourceforge idea .. but a funding site. Hmm... maybe linuxshowfund.org site could be established. OK. I'm just tinkering with the idea out loud. Maybe someone could pick it up from there.
