PRESS RELEASE
Lindows.com Announces Immediate Availability of the First- Ever MP3 Computer Combining Linux and MP3

SAN DIEGO - January 23, 2003 - Lindows.com, in conjunction with MP3.com, announces the availability of the first-ever, MP3 computer available now at www.lindows.com/mp3. Starting today, customers can purchase a computer with LindowsOS MP3.com Edition, which comes out-of-the-box with 12 albums of incredible songs allowing customers to create CDs, load music onto their portable MP3 player, and instantly access their pre-installed, ready-to-go music library for less than $300. To pick-up Lindows.com's ready-to-rock system visitwww.lindows.com/mp3.

"'MP3' is still the number one search term on the Internet. 'Linux' is number 5. LindowsOS MP3.com Edition is combining two great products that customers can't get enough of. It's like putting chocolate and peanut butter together," said Lindows.com. Inc.'s chief executive officer, Michael Robertson. "MP3.com was the obvious partner because they can secure all the necessary licenses to distribute so much quality digital music, and their gigantic library means you're sure to get great music from Pop and Rock to the even the most eclectic genres."

MP3.com's musicologists were commissioned to comb through the more than 1.6 million song library at MP3.com and select the greatest tracks from the more than 250,000 artists who have music on the MP3.com web site. From their selections emerged twelve CDs worth of quality songs for any musical taste, including songs from bands like MxPx, Jucifer, and Agent 51. All of these songs are neatly catalogued and pre-loaded onto the hard drive in LindowsOS MP3.com Edition. Rather than limiting digital rights management formats, every song is stored in the consumer friendly MP3 format. To view some of the tracks, visit www.lindows.com/mp3edition

"Downloading music is one of the killer apps for personal computer consumers today," said Derrick Oien, President of Vivendi Universal Net USA's Music & Media Group, which operates MP3.com. "We're pleased to provide Lindows.com customers instant access to hundreds of free songs from MP3.com and a free trial subscription to EMusic, the leading MP3 subscription service, to help get them jump started using digital music.

In addition to more than one hundred digital songs, LindowsOS MP3.com Edition tracks are permanently stored on the user's hard drive. Users are not subjected to restrictive listening terms, the songs are permanently a part of the users music library unless the user chooses otherwise.
