Anybody tried it yet?
I just downloaded the Windows version & have to say it's FAST. Maybe even faster than Opera.
Hard to believe it's based on the same engine Mozilla uses. I'll be downloading the linux version later & will let you know how it works .

Yes, I've been using it on my office Windows box. As for the GNU/Linux environment, Galeon is pretty special.
You may have noticed by now that there's a very nice review of it on this site. It's fourth under Most Read Articles.
Check it out.

Clayt,
Somehow I missed the article... probably because I had never heard of Phoenix before someone mentioned it on the Xandros boards.
I've got it in Linux now, as well... seems a tad slower than it did under windoze, but still plenty fast. So far I haven't experienced any of the "weirdness" I get on some webpages with Opera. Also I noticed I don't have to double click on bookmarks like I do in Opera... that's just a pet peeve of mine ;o)
If this browser passes the rest of my tests, I think I can stop looking for a decent browser for Linux.

I have been using Phoenix as my primary browser of choice on both my Linux and Windows machines since the day it was released!
All I can say is that phoenix is awesome!

According to the project page, that was 9-23-02. I find it amazing that they have gotten this far so fast.
Unlike many folks who first surfed the web with Netscape, my first browser was IE 4x .I was using IE5.5 before I started playing with Linux, which is where I first tried another browser. Then I tried every browser Suse offered, & they all had one problem or another that kept me from feeling comfortable with them.
Then I tried Opera (in windoze) & it was kind of OK, but there were too many webpages that wouldn't work right.
When I installed Xandros & the only browser was Mozilla, I knew I had to find something else (mozilla was just too slow). Opera worked better, but Phoenix works just like I am used to. At times I forget that I am running Linux now, it just "feels" right.
That's quite an accomplishment for a browser that is less than 4 months old.
