View Full Version : FS: linux-friendly laptop, on eBay

I have a used Gateway Solo 1150 laptop computer for sale on eBay. It has an Intel Celeron 550MHz processor, has been upgraded to 192 MB RAM, and it includes a PCMCIA Ethernet card, a nice notebook carrying case, and the original software discs, which have been used to restore it to its original software condition. The notebook's firmware has been upgraded at some time in the past.

It's friendly to linux; I've personally run both Mandrake 8.2 and RedHat 8.0 on it...

Here's the eBay link:

[ link removed by LPH. eBay's repututation is not solid. If you would like to leave contact information on this forum then someone may contact you from here. However, I don't really think this is a good use of the board. Especially when you are NOT registered as a flying penguin. Tsk. Tsk. ]

Happy bidding!

Desknotes are nice. I own one :-)

It allows me to keep my student's grades, lesson plans, and lecture notes on one machine away from the students. I can also move around the apartment with it. Xandros and Red hat 8 installed nicely on them.

The battery is overcome by the external UPS. Sadly, or fortunately depending on if you are half emtpy half full kind of person, this only provides about 45 minutes.

Also, I wish I had bought the car plug. Drats. Maybe the next paycheck.

[PS. EMH and Birdie eye this machine all the time. I suspect they are secret nighttime users of it  ]
