Rumors that the San Francisco Chronicle (http://www.sfgate.com/chronicle/info/) is in trouble circulates around the Internet.

It's clear that the news business as we knew it is in trouble. Bringing it home, Peter Lewis (http://weblogs.jomc.unc.edu/talkingbiznews/?p=1961) and Phil Elmer Dewitt (http://www.time.com/time/bios/philipelmer-dewitt.html), both well-known tech journalists, were both part of layoffs at Time Warner in January (they worked for Fortune and Time, respectively), and John Markoff remarked to me recently that "every time I talk to my colleagues in print journalism it feels like a wake."

Tim O'Reilly provides more details (http://radar.oreilly.com/archives/2007/03/sf_chronicle_in.html) of the rumors.

Yes, I rarely watch television news and certainly do not read newspapers. I do read the online version of newspapers. For example, the Daily News (http://www.dailynews.com) is a nice site to get different perspectives from "the valley."
