Suggestion: more reviews.

I notice not too many people post comments to articles
you post.
People seem to love distro reviews. Maybe if you did more
reviews of these, it will drive traffic here.
also do reviews of window mangagers like icewm
or apps like rox-filer, dillo browser, phoenix etc.

Our traffic bounces ... and that's OK with us. We've had as many as 23426 pageviews through PostNuke on one day (Nov 2001) but the site had trouble. Slashdot linked to a story in the summer 2002 and that caused real trouble. It was easier to direct traffic to a special page that was just straight html. In July we transfered over 15 GB, which cost dad lots of money because the bandwidth is metered. As it is, he spends several hundred dollars a month just by keeping things simple. We have to keep the cost down because it can be too expensive and we don't want to ask for donations. Besides, some companies have been very generous.

Did you see that Eugenia from OSNews decided to slow down on reviews? Reviews take a long time and sometimes they don't turn out that good. Dad makes us re-write them over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over ... and then we don't publish them because someone else on another site writes some of the same things. :-)

I'm trying to convince dad that we should write a LindowsOS versus Xandros Desktop article. He's working on grading his student's papers and said he'll think about it. There is a review template that he said we should follow. That thread is here ...

Dad said he'll think about it. Birdie and I already have some notes but have only done two installs of LindowsOS 3.0. We've installed Xandros a few more times than LindowsOS. In fact, we have two machines sitting side by side - one with LindowsOS and one with Xandros. Dad started to play with LindowsOS the other day. He wrote this

Birdie and I love Xandros but dad was not happy about moving text files between a Linux partition and a Windows ME partition, something about capitalizing letters.

Agreed. She is able to put a lot of information into a sentence. This is a skill that is not easily taught. Her review of LindowsOS is strange, though. I didn't have the problem with logging into a session without first going in as root. Guess it is time to revisit the install.
